Stop The Cravings

If it weren’t for the cravings, staying trimmed or getting fit would have been a lot easier. But the cravings are very much there, and frankly speaking, they add quite a charm to life.

With charm, they also add a lot of pounds to the waistline. Therefore, sadly enough, a way to curb those cravings needs to be discovered.

Cynthia Sass has found new ways to curb those cravings and she has written them down in her book Cinch! Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds and Lose Inches.

Apparently, the book isn’t filled with tips on filling your tummy with healthy foods so that you don’t crave sugar; rather you will find approximately 100 recipes for delicious meals.

What’s different about these meals is that they are prepared with mouth-watering seasonings that not only make the meals delicious but also curb the cravings.

How about that! So how do they do that? These seasonings contain ingredients that are proven to boost the metabolism and be more satiating.

Though the purpose of this article is not to reveal recipes, it will however provide you with some of such weight loss tips as discussed above.

1. Add More Flavorings

There are a lot of diet plans out there which vary greatly but somehow lead to the same result – losing lots of pounds.

Some diets opt for eating mostly protein, others advocate the use of vegetarian dishes and some even use fiber-rich carbs. With Cynthia Sass's diet plan, you need to follow some other rules

For one thing, she has prepared a lot of exotic dishes in her book; the difference is that she has used a lot of flavorings in her food through the use of spices and some other seasonings.

So you don’t have to eat bland food again like baked chicken with boiled vegetables. You can now eat stir-fried ginger turkey. All you need to do is to follow simple rules from her book and enjoy highly flavored food and at the same time discover a way to escape those cravings.

2. Citrusy Flavors

Everyone who is into cooking knows that the citrusy flavor comes from both lemons and oranges, and there are numerous recipes in which the citrus juice from both these components can be added.

Citrus juice enhances the flavor of the dish immensely but does it also aid in weight loss? So what other advantages does the citrus flavor has?

Citrus juice is the main source of vitamin C. It is so rich in this vitamin that only one ounce of it can provide 120% of the RDA. It has been known as a booster of the immune system but it is actually also a fat-burning compound.

Research conducted at Arizona State University concluded that the level of vitamin C present in the bloodstream correlates to the level of fat oxidation in the body.

During fat oxidation, the body uses all the stored fat as a source of fuel while the body is working out and even in times of rest. So that is a great advantage of adding citrus flavor to the meals.

It can be used in a variety of ways; for example, lemon juice or orange juice can be used to make delicious dressings for salads or sauces to go with grilled meat dishes.

It can also be used during stir-frying with ginger and red pepper in many Chinese and Japanese dishes. So try it, the citrus juices can contribute a lot besides their tangy flavor.

3. Colorful Peppers

Red and green chili peppers go with just about any dish in this world. If they are not added to the dish, they can certainly be eaten as a side garnish. It provides a lot of color to the dish and therefore makes the food look tempting to the eye.

Adding chili peppers to the food can certainly add some kick to the meal, but not to worry; because the compound that produces the hotness is also responsible for boosting the metabolism.

You will be surprised to know that the metabolic rate can be increased by 23%. And an increased metabolism will help burn calories sooner.

Next time you prepare a dish, don’t forget to add the chili peppers or use them in guacamole or their minced jalapeno version in sandwiches and burgers.

4. The Magic of Vinegar

Vinegar also has a lot to do in trimming the waists. Research on Vinegar was published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition and it stated that using vinegar in meals can decrease the intake of calories during that day by 16%.

This study which was conducted in Arizona State proved that just the mere addition of vinegar can be the reason for losing 20 -28 pounds in a year.

Using vinegar in meals or with meals is a common practice and it really enhances the flavors of salads and marinades. Balsamic vinegar can even be used in dark chocolate recipes.

So it is not just about what you eat, it is also about how you prepare the food and how you eat it. Using some of these magic ingredients in your daily meals can make a lot of difference to your waist.
